Image 033 are delighted to present Bare Collective’s ‘Home’ Exhibition launching on Thursday 3rd July 2014 @6pm. Bare Collective are Tony Kane,Mark Ponisi, Kieran Quigley and Claire Byrne and work across lens-based media.

” ‘Home’ is a multimedia exhibition documenting the contrasting life and experiences of an Irish photographer living in Palestine with those of Palestinians living in our local communities in Ireland. The word ‘home’ by its very nature means a place of love and security. It can mean people, places, houses or just a feeling.”

This is their first group exhibition as a collective and is taking place within the context of the PhotoIreland Canon Open Programme. It aims to give visitors an opportunity to interrogate their own concepts of ‘home’ and to encourage dialogue surrounding ones own identity.

Talking About / Paying For -a PhotoIreland Exhibition by Hugh McElveen -03/07 @6pm

Launch Wednesday 3rd July 2013. Exhibition continues until Wednesday 17th July.

Hugh McElveen’s use of photography could –almost– be incidental. Linguistics, topography and psychology are the cornerstones of ‘Talking About / Paying For’.  Distorted and dream-like, McElveen’s photographs come to reinforce the subjective nature of the topic of prostitution, constantly swaying between intimacy and voyeurism.

Over the course of a year, Hugh McElveen patiently built up the coup de maître of re-opening a debate on the sex industry without clichés and romantic notions. Documenting a taboo Dublin and engaging with former and current sex-workers –of which Rachel Moran is one, McElveen manages to expose both sides of the argument without complacency. This comes at a crucial time when legislation is about to dramatically transform those ephemeral physical and psychological landscapes McElveen crystallised with acute minimalism.

WAKE celebrates K’s return to solo exhibition. Created to’s specs, “the multimedia sculptural installations of this show are comprised of eight years’ worth of detritus, artefacts and abandoned materials. It is at once both the evidence of the passage of a massive undertaking, as well as the public viewing of a role and identity laid to rest. Contextually, it suggests behaviours of consumption and materialism, and the trails we all leave behind.”

K will reveal the full scale of this overwhelming sculptural installation  on Thursday 9th May at 6pm.

Launch: Thursday 9th May, 6pm – 10pm
Exhibition continues until Sunday 19th May.
Exhibition will be open 12 to 6pm on weekdays & 10am to 5pm weekdays.

“Death of Intimacy & Birth of Monuments” exhibition by Hugh McElveen, Wed 17/04 @6pm

Launch & Tasting: Wednesday 17th April at 6pm

Hugh McElveen is presenting his first solo exhibition in 033 after a trip to Italy where he documented the organic olive oil production process of Lino Olivieri. However, during that process, something entirely different caught his attention: the old sprung mattresses recycled as garden defences against the onslaught of wildlife. The beds function shifts “from passive support of our relaxation to an active defence against our intruders.”

Hugh puts together a compelling body of work, between figuration and abstraction, full of Smithonian reflections and reminiscent of the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi. By framing his prints in metal, Hugh will attempt at recreating the ‘fortified borders’ of the Italian horticultural landscape, while Lino himself will bring the last missing ingredient, the sun, as he will offer tastings of his world class production.
